MICRONEEDLING
Skin Rejuvenation. Collagen Production.
A NATURAL SKIN REJUVENATION TREATMENT
Microneedling is an injectable treatment which involves gently penetrating the skin with a fine needle for improved, younger looking skin. Microneedling can also be an effective treatment to reduce acne scars, stretch marks and wrinkles.
NATURAL
Microneedling is a treatment that uses tiny needles that gently glide across the face, causing a controlled injury to the skin. These micro-traumas encourage the skin to heal itself, activating the release of new collagen and elastin.
SKIN CONCERNS?
Micnoneedling treatments are a great non-surgical way to rejuvenate skin. They work to target fine lines and wrinkles and also work to tighten the skin. They can also help with acne scars, stretch marks and age spots.
Micro-needling therapy designed to use the natural power of skin rejuvenation and collagen production.
Micro-needle therapy is a multi-function skin therapy utilising an injectable device with multiple thin needles that gently penetrate the skin resulting in firmer, smoother and younger looking skin. This therapy is most commonly used to rejuvenate and combat scarring, enlarged pores, lines and wrinkles, non-elastic skin, sun damage, age spots and eye bags. Multiple thin needle puncturing of the skin with minimal downtime which results in scar-less healing and natural collagen production in the skin.
Benefits to Microneedling:
- Improves fine lines and deeper wrinkles.
- Reduces acne scars.
- Softens stretch marks.
- Evens skin tone
- Lightens hyperpigmentation and sun spots.
- Reduces appearance of pores.
- Firms and smooths skin texture.
- Heals scars.
- Reduces broken capillaries and spider veins.
- Brings back the glow for fresher, younger-looking skin.
Micro-needling uses an injection device that moves over your skin creating tiny punctures in the skin, the majority of which are just opening the pores. The skin perceives this as damage to itself and as a result, stimulates collagen and elastin production and initiates a healing process. This means the body works to repair itself.
Any areas of the face, neck and chest can be treated with micro-needling, this is broken down into;
- Lower face
- Upper face
- Around the eyes
- Neck
- Décolletage
- Scars and stretch marks
- A combination of the above
Depending on skin condition, quality and extent of area to be treated, the length of treatment times and number of treatments may vary, although generally this is from 1 to 6 treatments. This will be fully discussed and agreed with you at your consultation appointment.
You may experience some minor discomfort during the procedure, but a numbing cream will be applied prior to commencement to reduce this. You may experience some very minor bleeding during the treatment but not post treatment. There is also a possibility of redness of the skin that generally, subsides and disappears after 1-2 hours.
Micro-needling can be safely performed on all skin types and colours.
Micro-needling is a very safe and effective procedure and at KC Aesthetic Clinic is only carried out by a fully trained nurse. Any minor side effects usually subside within 24-48 hours these may include erythema, stinging, itching and skin tightness. It is minimally invasive with minimal downtime and requires only simple aftercare.
Results can be seen after approx. 6-8 weeks and these results still continuously improve over a longer period. Our skin heals itself approximately every 6 weeks so the micro-needling changes will be rapid. A course of treatments is generally recommended for best results, but improvements are seen after just one treatment.
Your skin may be red and slightly flushed post treatment, along with skin tightness and mild sensitivity, but this diminishes after a few hours and after one day the skin will be completely healed.
Most people are eligible for the treatment, your experienced practitioner will advise you on your suitability at the consultation appointment.
Microneedling offers amazing benefits to getting and keeping your skin beautiful, but like any good skin procedure there are important aftercare instructions that you will need to follow to get the most out of your skincare treatment.
As microneedling creates micro wounds in the skin, patients cannot return to their normal skincare routines right away. In fact, immediately after your treatment, you will look as though you have a mild to moderate sunburn, and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. Keep in mind, these effects are normal. They typically subside within a few hours after treatment but can take up to 24-48 hours for complete resolution.
Don’t worry: your skin professional will discuss post-procedure skincare following the treatment to help soothe, calm, and protect the skin. Continue to treat the skin gently for three days after micro-needling, and you may resume your normal skincare routine after day three post-treatment.
CLEAN – Use a gentle cleanser and tepid water to cleanse the face for 72 hours post-treatment, and gently dry the treated skin. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area, and do not use a powered cleansing brushes for at least one week after your treatment.
MAKEUP – We recommend you do not apply makeup for 24 to 72 hours after the procedure. In addition, do not apply any makeup with a makeup brush, especially if the brush is not clean.
PROTECT- Use broad-spectrum UVA/UVB, SPF 25 or greater sunscreen. We recommend a chemical-free sunscreen. Keep in mind that you should continue to use a sunscreen everyday—not only the days following your procedure—as part of your skincare routine to protect your skin from sun damage and premature aging.
To ensure the proper healing environment, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) scrubs or anything perceived as “active” skincare for one-week post treatment.
Do not use any powered cleansing brushes for one-week post treatment.
Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 72 hours.
No tanning beds.
Always wear sunscreen.
Do not go swimming for at least 72 hours post-treatment.
Do not exercise or participate in strenuous activity for the first 72 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments in general are harmful and filled with bacteria, which may cause adverse reactions in your skin.
