What are polynucleotides ?

Polynucleotides are an advanced regenerative treatment used in aesthetic medicine to improve skin quality, restore hydration, and promote natural rejuvenation. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume, polynucleotides work by stimulating the skin’s own repair mechanisms, leading to healthier, stronger, and more youthful-looking skin over time.

Polynucleotides are injected into aged and damaged and skin via specific techniques, depending on the product that is used.

Patients can expect to see initial results after three weeks, which will last six to nine months.

Cells have DNA, which is made of polynucleotides. When we inject more polynucleotides into aged and damaged skin cells, they help to regenerate tissue by stimulating fibroblasts – a type of cell that contributes to the formation of connective tissue. Essentially, we are healing skin from within.

How do they work?

Polynucleotides rejuvenate the skin through several key mechanisms:

  • Stimulating collagen and elastin production, improving firmness and elasticity
  • Enhancing skin hydration, resulting in smoother and plumper skin
  • Repairing damaged tissue, particularly from ageing, sun exposure, or environmental stress
  • Reducing inflammation, which helps calm sensitive or compromised skin
  • Improving skin texture and tone, leading to a healthier overall appearance

This regenerative process develops gradually, providing natural and long-lasting improvements.

Side effects are minimal, depending on the injection technique used. As with any injection, patients can expect some slight redness and swelling following treatment.

Yes, absolutely. All of our polynucleotides can be offered as a stand-alone treatment or used in combination with any other procedure.
We have seen excellent results alongside dermal filler, botulinum toxin, PRP and radiofrequency treatments.

Polynucleotides are administered via a series of small injections into the superficial layers of the skin. The procedure typically takes 30–45 minutes. A topical numbing cream is often applied beforehand to ensure comfort.

Most patients require a course of 2–3 treatments spaced 2–4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every 6–12 months depending on individual needs.
